Katharina Leonore Goebel grew up in Prien am Chiemsee and discovered her passion for acting early on. She trained at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre (2010–2014), making her feature film debut during her studies with Das Leben ist ein Bauernhof, a breakout leading role that immediately drew critical attention.
She went on to appear in Drei Stunden (dir. Boris Kunz) and the award-winning feature Trans Bavaria, which premiered at the Hof International Film Festival. Her screen presence continued to expand with the acclaimed comedy Frau Stern (Max Ophüls premiere; “Best Feature Film” at Achtung Berlin), the BAFTA-shortlisted short Goldilocks, and roles in Tal der Mörder, Die Chefin, Die Bestatterin, Zwischenzeit and other productions.
Alongside her screen career, Katharina has maintained a steady stage presence. From 2014 to 2016 she was a member of the Theater Heilbronn ensemble, appearing in classical, contemporary and performance-based work. As a freelancer, she has performed at Schauspielhaus Bochum, Grillo-Theater Essen, DNT Weimar, and within the independent scenes of Berlin and Munich, and co-founded FLUGWERK, a collective dedicated to opening artistic processes to audiences.
Since 2021, Katharina has played the series regular Sophia Strasser in ARD’s successful crime series Watzmann ermittelt. Her portrayal of the intuitive, grounded, and humor-infused investigator has become a defining element of the show, now heading into a fifth season. A 90-minute primetime special is slated for 2026.
Katharina’s upcoming screen work includes the feature films Tamas Traum (dir. Michael Grudskys) and Ameisen fressen kein Halva (dir. Alisa Kolosova), as well as the Disney+ series Call My Agent (dir. Johann Buchholz), set for release in late 2025 — continuing her strong presence in contemporary German film and television.
