Joyce Sanhá, born in Rotterdam in 1996, grew up in Hamburg and took acting lessons at the age of seven. From 2009 to 2014, she attended the Young Talent Program at Stage School Hamburg. She has already appeared in numerous films, including an episode of the TV series Der Tatortreiniger and most recently in Fatih Akin’s gangster drama Rheingold (2022).
Joyce Sanhá began her acting studies at the Thomas Bernhard Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg in 2021. At the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck she played the role of Horatio in Shakespeare’s Hamlet (director: Amélie Niermeyer) in the 2022/23 season. In Anti War Women by Jessica Glause and with music by Eva Jantschitsch she played at the Münchner Kammerspiele.
She is the recipient of the Deutschlandstiftung GEH DEINEN WEG 2023 acting scholarship.
She also won the solo prize at the Bundeswettbewerb für Schauspiel 2024 in Frankfurt. She also won the main prize for the best ensemble „Ensemblepreis Schweiz“ with her Mozarteum class, as well as the audience award for the production DAS SCHWEIGENDE MÄDCHEN by Elfriede Jelinek.
Her most recent performances include FLUNKYBALL, SO WEIT KOMMTS NOCH, MARIE FÄNGT FEUER, and DIE NETTESTEN MENSCHEN DER WELT.
From the 2024/25 season, Joyce will be part of the Berliner Ensemble’s permanent acting ensemble.
