Constanze Becker is one of Germany’s most acclaimed stage actresses. A graduate of the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, she was featured early in her career in Andres Veiel’s award-winning documentary Die Spielwütigen (2003).
She has been a member of leading ensembles at Schauspiel Leipzig, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, working with celebrated directors such as Jürgen Gosch, Michael Thalheimer, Simon Stone and Karin Henkel. In 2008 she was named Actress of the Year by Theater heute for her portrayal of Jelena Andrejewna in Uncle Vanya (from the same Uncle Vanya ensemble Jens Harzer and Ulrich Matthes were also honoured as Actors of the Year).
From 2009 to 2017, she was part of the Schauspiel Frankfurt ensemble, where her portrayal of Medea under Thalheimer’s direction earned her both the Gertrud Eysoldt Ring and the German Theatre Award Der Faust.
Since 2017, Constanze has been a member of the Berliner Ensemble, appearing in leading roles in classical and contemporary productions. She also appeared in the Tatort episode Wunder gibt es immer wieder (2021).
