He has been in the business for over 20 years now: TINO MEWES.
He trained at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts from 2001 to 2004. He then went straight into the ensemble of the Thalia Theater in Hamburg.
His cinema career began early on – in 2001, Tino Mewes was seen in the male lead role in Almut Goette’s FICKENDE FISCHE. Mewes was nominated for the New Faces Award and the Jupiter Prize 2003 for his performance in the romantic drama, which was also awarded the Max Ophüls Prize.
This was followed by roles in the ARD film ERSTE LIEBE and the feature film DIE NACHT DER LEBENDEN LOSER (2003, directed by Mathias Dinter), for which he received an Undine Award nomination for best young comedian.
In 2006, he was part of the ensemble of the World War I drama DER ROTE BARON directed by Nikki Müllerschön alongside Matthias Schweighöfer, Til Schweiger, Lena Heady and many more. (Undine Award nomination for Best Young Supporting Actor), starred in the television event DAS WUNDER VON BERLIN by Roland Suso Richter alongside Kostja Ullmann, Karoline Herfurth and Michael Gwisdek and in 2008 took on the leading role in the friendship drama ZWEIER OHNE under the direction of Jobst Christian Oetzmann, with whom he had previously worked on the film DELPHINSOMMER.
In 2011, Tino Mewes took over from Elias M`Barek and joined the regular cast of the award-winning comedy series DANNI LOWINSKI. The series was honored with a Grimme Award nomination and the German Comedy Award in the Best Series category in 2011. In 2013, he appeared on the big screen in the feature film SYSTEMFEHLER – WENN INGE TANZT by director Wolfgang Groos.
He was seen in the leading role alongside Michael Gwisdek in the ARD primetime film FAMILIE WÖHLER AUF MALLORCA (director: David Gruschka), the three-parter by Michael Kruemmenacher PREIS DER FREIHEIT and in the successful TV series DER BERGDOKTOR in the episode „Zeit der Wölfe“ directed by Nikki Müllerschön. He also appeared in front of the camera for TATORT and WILSBERG.
